Children

We Help Kids Be the Best Version of Themselves

Wells Family Counseling is the place for parents who are looking for an authentic, nurturing, empathic, and strengths-focused approach to therapy. We believe there is no such thing as a ‘bad kid’ or a 'problem child'; only a child struggling to survive and be understood. We are dedicated to trying to understand the world through your child’s eyes.

Imagine Your Child Thriving

Through Therapy and Parent Support:

  • Your child can learn to better regulate his emotions and establish a calmer, more stable mood.
  • Your child can feel comfortable expressing her anxieties about her place in the world.
  • You can feel relief knowing your relationship with your child can flourish despite his emotional and behavioral struggles.
  • You and your child can take on the challenges that life brings knowing you are on the same team.

What to Expect

The initial intake session will include both parent and child and is 70 minutes.  Sessions are typically 50 minutes, but adjustments can be made based upon the child's needs; some children benefit from shorter session lengths. Frequency of sessions and the length of the course of therapy is variable, as it depends upon each child and family's individual needs.  Typically, sessions continue for several weeks as it is an in-depth process to explore the complexities that contribute to your child’s struggles.

There are certain sessions parents and children will attend together and other times where the parents and/or child will meet alone with the therapist. This allows the entire family to reap the benefits of  counseling.

We are a fee-for-service provider. Learn more about the benefits of private pay here.
